Preparing Your Home For A Quicker Sale
We don’t get a “second chance to make a
good first impression”. Since people begin to judge your home
the moment they drive up, the first impression is crucial.
Checklist for faster sales:
____ Remove clutter from yard, cut grass, edge walks,
trim hedges, and weed gardens.
____ Plant some extra flowers for color or put some potted
plants beside the front door.
____ Paint, fix, or wash front and back doors, railings, and
screen doors.
____ Straighten up garage, paint, fix or wash doors and windows.
____ Clean exterior of heating/cooling unit.
____ Replace all burned out light bulbs and faulty switches.
____ Remove any clutter from halls and stairs to give wide
appearance.
____ General condition- dust, wash, fix defects, as required.
These items are super crucial:
____ In the kitchen - stove, refrigerator, and sink
should be spotless, all work space clear.
____ Bathrooms should be neat, spotless, and fresh. Repair
caulking around tub, shower, sink and toilet.
____ Closets – untidy or over-crowded closets suggest inadequate
storage space.
The finishing touches:
____ Brighten things with fresh paint. White, off white,
or beige walls make a room look bigger.
____ Too much clutter and too much furniture can make a home
“feel wrong”. Consider feeling of spaciousness. Store excess
furniture and unneeded items to “enlarge” room size.
____ Clean off kitchen counters. Make them look as expansive as
possible. Clean the oven and all appliances. Put fresh flowers
or a potted plant on the counter.
____ Get out your tool kit. Tighten loose doorknobs, drawer
pulls, cabinet handles, towel racks, switch plates and outlet
covers. Fix leaky faucets and remove water stains.
